Pure Tone Audiometer

چکیده
Estimation of pure tone hearing threshold is a part of hearing tests conducted in order to know the sensitivity of the human auditory system. This paper presents manual audiometer implemented in Matlab which can be used to conduct such measurements. Audiometer was calibrated by means of an artificial ear and pistonphone. Modified Hughson-Westlake method [1] usually used in manual audiometry is described.

[Study of tinnitus masking by self-recording audiometer].
The tinnitus masking test, in which the minimum masking levels of tinnitus by various pure tones and band noises are measured and used to produce tinnitus masking curves, is one of the methods for evaluating the character of tinnitus. At present, the tinnitus masking test is usually performed using a pure tone audiometer. In this study, tinnitus masking curves were produced using a self-recordi...

Methods: Analytic, cross-sectional study set in a Philippine tertiary institution. Subjects were recruited from the outpatient department in September 2005 and comprised of cooperative, clinically normal and abnormal hearing individuals. Thirty-two subjects made 64 total ears tested (n=64), giving 0.90 correlation at 0.05 level of significance (α) (p = 0.05) and 99% power. Each subject underwen...
متن کاملPure tone audiometry: comparison of general practice and hospital services.
Pure tone audiometry was obtained for both ears of 32 children by a general practitioner using a simple audiometer in his surgery, and by audiometricians in a hospital department on the same day. Comparing the worst hearing threshold at any of the three tested frequencies, the general practitioner did not find any ears to hear more than 10 dB better than the hospital (no false negatives). Howev...
متن کاملThe instructional effectiveness of a web-based audiometry simulator.
With distance learning becoming more of a reality than a novelty in many undergraduate and graduate training programs, web-based clinical simulations can be identified as an instructional option in distance education that has both a sound pedagogical foundation and clinical relevance. The purpose of this article is to report on the instructional effectiveness of a web-based pure-tone audiometry...
